Lou, I am talking about the patient assuming a large part of responsibility in recovery. That is, seeking therapy and otherwise working towards a better outlook. The meds can only act as an adjunct or a starting up point to living more fully. A good therapist and a lot of hard work on the patient's part are paramount--you can't know what I mean if you haven't been on this road. Without this, the meds are no more than pills with side effects. Again, just in my opinion.
