Have to see my "psyco" doc tomorrow and know that he will also tell me it is anxiety when I know too well its NOT!!! why dont they listen to us? what do we have to do? Also got lots of other things going on at the moment. Lamotrigine was increased two weeks ago so dont know if its from that or what. Got symptoms of n.m.s. and akathisia, get so hot after taking meds and a really fast pulse.Quite scary sometimes. Does anyone else get this. Thanks for any help

It may be an allergic reaction -- you wouldn't be here typing, if you had NMS, you'd be in an ER hopefully (see below)

Have you ever actually measured your temperature?

I woke up with a 102 degree temperature, and I thought oh, is this NMS, and I was like, no -- there would be lots of other things going on, its my somatiform condition amplifying the feeling of heat. Some bug, went away in a day and a half.

You can have hot flashes due to the autonomic nervous system fight-or-flight which I have had numerous times and have either none (very much of the time) or a retrograde (under 100) -- btw 98.7 is a pseudo myth, it runs from 97.5 to around 99 in the evening, I know I am at the 97.5ish range so 99.5 is a light fever.

Even without the fever, acetaminophen sometimes stops these flashes, but that is the mystery of my body, I don't suggest that people take it often, it hits the liver and just reinforces the hot-flash-brain-circuit phenomenon.

At any rate NMS is characterised by having high -- really high 104-105 degree fever, is rather rare, except with very specific antipsychotics and especially -combining- them, and the person is actually not aware that they have NMS. Delirium and markedly extreme entire bodily stiffness are hallmarks of NMS.

Akathisia is a possibility from other medications other than APs although much more rare but it is not anxiety, it is a feeling like you have to run through the wall. But it can be ameliorated if you have to keep the medication with anticholinergics and sometimes propranolol
