Provigil/Strattera

Posted by jacs on January 27, 2007, at 13:07:11

Can anyone help me and lend some advice --I would be most grateful. I have weaned myself off of Wellbutrin after 4-5 years of it. Was great when it worked, but eventually I felt it was doing nothing but giving me hand tremor and just making my sleep more difficult. It did help me though--but I need a change. Pdoc tried me on Provigil in the afternoon-- WHOA--not an afternoon drug unless you want to be awake for days. So, I do take 1-2 mg Klonopin a night to help sleep--sort of helps. We are going to talk about my weaning off this which I had weaned down to one but as of late life has been stressful and I have had to increase to turn my brain off at night. I told him I want to give the provigil a shot again. I have tried it w/o Wellbutrin 1st thing in the morning and it is a good energizer, but will it last? For depression it is not so great. I want to suggest Strattera and provigil and wanted to know about this combo -- I mention this combo because focus is shot ( in college, older student, racing thoughts and cannot focus and the provigil alone makes me sometimes so exhausted I feel weepy...is this common the crying? Or is my little life also that sad/ it is actually.) Are there a ton of sexual side effects from this combo? I sensed there were not as I researched, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, my doctor is a stickler about ADHD meds or ADD meds as far as prescribing them--he is cautious and I respect that, but yet had me on WB for so long manybe I can talk him into trying a change? Also a new sleep aid that sounds like Remeron but isn't the name. Any help would be great. I talk to him Monday via phone. He is very good--not traditional shrink-- just prescribes, tell him what is happening, but no personal stuff (he seems to abhor that--which bothers me, but I trust him---he has been with me for nearly 7 years...so trust outweighs his distaste for talking....except about meds.) Thank you for helping me.
