Parnate (tranylcypromine) and heart palpitations?

Posted by Caedmon on May 13, 2006, at 12:33:18

Ever since I started Parnate (tranylcypromine) I have had occasional, mild heart palpitations. They usually occur at night while laying down. They really aren't bothersome so much as kind of curious, although I try and lay on my right side if it does happen. This is independent of any elevation in blood pressure or heart rate (I've checked - I'm holding steady at 108/65 and 60-70 bpm usually.)

Are heart palpitations a side effect you've ever experienced on a medication? Is tranylcypromine known to cause them specifically? Should I be worried?
