Like you were saying, in the 80's a lot of doctors thought depression was due to noradenergic dysfunction.
Noradrenergic drugs down regulate beta adrenoreceptors, but I also read somewhere that NMDA antaonists also downregulated adrenoreceptors. So upregulated adrenoreceptors may not be related to noradrenaline deficiancy.
So they tell you not to take 5-htp with your prozac because you could get serotonin syndrome. Well then wouldn't it make more sence not to take prozac with 5-htp ?
