i think your desire to try a tricyclic makes a lot more sense than escalating a drug that has a flat dose response curve. there is a lot of evidence that adding a TCA to an SSRI can produce remission at a higher rate than SSRI monotherapy.
Why not suggest, instead of maxing out the Celexa in the hope that you will get a placebo response (in my opinion all escalating dosages of SSRI's above minimum effective dosage do is cause placebo response brought on by more s/e, except in rare cases) add desipramine to the Celexa. That is a combination that might actually help.
