> Scary! I am also on Wellbutrin 450mgs. So you think a dose as low as 50 of Topomax can make me stupid? I guess I'll give it a try. Thanks.

it won't make you stupid: topamax is renouned for cognitive impairment. at 50 mg qd, you are in the noise level, so i would think that the cognitive effects would be slim to none. topamax is very well established as a drug that will cause you to lose weight and, in higher doses, make word-finding difficult and shortening you attension span. as long as you have a primary modd stabilizer on board, topamax is indicated for offsetting the weight gain that is usually associated with drugs such as lithium carbonate, depakote, zyprexa, and others of that ilk. there is a significant body of literature that asscociates cognitive impairment with the abovementioned drugs as well; topamax is the highest scorer in that regard. if you have problems, look into a cholinesterase inhibitor, which will not only offest the impairment but might add mood stabilizing effects as well. fyi, this last bit of info comes from dr. steve dubovsky, the man who wrote the book on novel bipolar treatments. hope all is well, and best regards, chemist
