Hi again,

I was just thinking about something I read a few years ago about SSRI's effects on neurotransmiiters. I don't know where I read it, but it was something about selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors can cause a down regulation of dopamine, which can lead to such things as jaw clenching, and I think sweating--not sure about the sweating. But, if this is true, that SSRI's cause dopamine to be depleted, then what normally happens when dopamine levels go down, is that choline levels increase. Dopamine and choline balance each other-when one is low the other increases.

Low dopamine can also result in increase in prolactin levels which can cause some woman to have milk leakage from their breasts.

Thinking about the choline/dopamine balancing act, I remembered where I read in the book "Prescription for Nutritional Healing", under the chapter for manic depression/bipolar disorder, that one who suffers from BP illness should not take supplemental choline for it can induce mania.

Hmmm-just a thought that this is what might be going on with SSRI's and any drug that increases serotonin. Any other ideas,or corrections, out there?
