Kramer - Lamictal and pregnancy?

Posted by Cindy Lou on April 2, 2002, at 6:55:48

Hi Dr.Kramer,
Thanks for the time you are spending with us! It is very valuable ...

I am currently taking 80 mg of Lamictal -- I am very med sensitive and need to take small doses of meds, although I am trying to increase it. I also take a small amount of Klonapin at night (1/4 to 1/2 of a .25 mg tablet), and about 2.5 mg of Prozac every few days -- sounds crazy, I know, but I can't tolerate any more than that!

My main question is, can I still take these meds while pregnant? My husband and I hope to have another baby ... I had very bad post-partum depression/anxiety after my first. I also have long-term chronic depression (and have recently been re-diagnosed as BPII). I am doing just okay .. but keeping my head above water.

I have tried every med out there except for MAOIs and other mood stabilizers.

I had a miscarriage while on Zoloft + Wellbutrin, and I am scared to stay on meds, but also scared to get off of them.

Thanks in advance for your help!

cindy
