I began Effexor 9 weeks ago. I began taking one 37.5 mg a day for the first week and then began one 75 mg. a day. I noticed a marked difference with my anxiety within 2 or 3 days. I was able to sleep very well after a week and my depression improved gradually and was gone by the 6th. week. Effexor has been nothing short of a miracle for me. I tried Prozac, Paxil, Elavil and a few others without success. My only side effect has been sexual which is getting better as time passes. Be patient--I didn't peak until the six week point.
