According to Geodon's official monograph, somnolence is less likely than with Risperdal. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for me; I had a lot of drowsiness with Geodon, but no cognitive problems as evidenced by my usual musical ability.

Zyprexa might be a good choice for your son, considering it is effective and approved specifically for treating mania this year. I never had any side-effects on Zyprexa, and it helps with depression by working on serotonin receptors.

> My son refuses to take topamax as an add-on for mania symptoms because it impairs him cognitively. Risperdal puts him to sleep. Geodon is supposed to be better re: less sleepiness and fewer cognitive problems. Any comments on this? Thank you!
