I have not encountered any instances on the Web in which a severe hepatic (liver) event has been described for adrafinil. There is a surprising lack of information on adrafinil (Olmifon), given its popularity overseas. I even did a search on AOL's French search engine and came up only with references dealing with its illegal use in athletic competition and its possible use in treating female incontinence.
If I had not experienced a negative reaction to Provigil, I would probably have tried adrafinil as my next therapeutic choice. It was my intention to call the drug company for some definitive information regarding side effects. Perhaps you could have the pharmacy you intend to do business with mail or FAX you a copy of the package insert.
I would encourage anyone currently receiving adrafinil to ask the pharmacy or distributor for a copy of the company package insert.
Would I try it? Yes.
Would I want a family member to try it without more information? No.I doubt this has helped much.
