I think that's a good question about MAOI personalities. I have taken Nardil, Parnate, and Selegeline. Nardil works very well for social phobia. One of the weird things about this drug is that it relaxes and stimulates you at the same time. When I took it I felt very relaxed around people but also was wide awake and could stay up all night without getting tired. In some people Nardil can cause hypomania.

Parnate was too stimulating for me; it actually increased my social anxiety. I think this drug works better for depression than anxiety. Some say it has fewer side effects than Nardil.

Selegeline is used primarily for Alzheimer's disease. It targets the dopamine system and has far fewer side effects. I tried it for a couple of weeks with no noticeable result.
