Unfortunately Parnate didn't work half as well for depression or social phobia for me, but of course YMMV. I think it's definitely worth a try if Nardil's been good.
> Also, Marplan, an MAOI more like Nardil, is available now in the US, but it may cause significant weight gain too. Parnate made me hyper and tired at the same time, while Nardil seemed to relax me. I myself got toxic on Parnate, but that was because I was taking a large amount of it (80mg). Just means that too much of it built up in my system and made me physically ill (like a bad flu) and a little psychotic. As long as you take a normal dose of Parnate, I wouldn't worry about toxicity, especially if you've never gotten toxic on anything before.

Anita,
I also have panic disorder. Are you strictly Social phobic if you don't mind me asking?? I am really in hopes parnate will work for me but am worried that it won't be "calming" enough with the panic disorder. Nardil had a calming effect for me.It worries me about you saying you had psychosis with parnate...whaT does that mean exactly??Have you had that before?? I was on 90mgs of nardil. What was your dosage?? I think that is an above average dose for nardil (90mgs).Hope I would not have to go to a high dose of parnate because of your experience on higher doses.
I don't really experience much depression, mainly
anxiety and Social anxiety. What is this new med you are now taking?? I have never heard of it before.....
Thanks,
Linda
