Re: Celexa vx. paxil and helping sleep

In reply to Celexa vx. paxil and helping sleep, posted by Dona on January 10, 1999, at 15:02:25

I started on Paxil over a year ago, but was only on it for about 2 months - I was sleeping all the time, and I could tell that I was gaining weight.

I took effexor for a long time - that seemed to help my depression, but it made me very edgy. After a while I either got sick of it or it wasn't working, so I'm off that and on Celexa.

There was no interval where I came off of one and on the other. My doc just said to start taking the Celexa. I felt really spaced out and depressed for a couple of days, and then things got a lot better. Celexa helps with my depression, anxiety attacks, and social phobia.

I also have the regular side effects - sexual disfunction, tiredness, air-headed-ness...but the med has been more good than bad.

I did experience some effects whereupon my emotions were cut off. They were more than leveled out - it's like I almost didn't care. I was able to end a pretty intense (but innapropriate) relationship without a lot of emotional pain. I know I felt it, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Lately, though, the effectiveness of this med is beginning to wear off. Now, I can sleep from 5pm to 7am if I want. This is not a good thing! Also, I have a lot of trouble concentrating at work...

If anyone knows how to counter these side effects I would really like to know!

Drew
