I think this is unusual, but not impossible, with BuSpar.
I do know that people taking antidepressants (especially SSRIs like Paxil and Prozac) for panic disorder definitely tend to have increased anxiety at first; the way to get around this is starting at a very low dose (e.g., 0.5-1cc (2-4mg) of liquid Prozac, or 5mg of Paxil) and increasing it gradually as tolerated. It also happens with tricyclic antidepressants like imipramine, so people with PD usually need to start those at 10mg or so.
