In reply to GI irritation and how to get more out of you meds, posted by saintjames on April 19, 1999, at 17:23:14

Do you happen to know if sustained-release formulations, i.e. Wellbutrin SR, are dissolved slowly because of the outer layer, or because of the binding of all of the ingredients in such a way as to release the active ingredients slowly even if the tablet has been broken in half?

In other words, if I broke a Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in half, would one half be "immediate-release" 75 mg?

Thanks.
