There are 2 ez things you can do if pills and capsules irritate your GI tract. Pills are the worst here because they just sit on the lining and slowly desolve, releasing a high concentration in a small area. Try eating something 30 mins b4 you take your pills to act as a buffer. Some meds are not to be taken with food, so check with you Rx. Generally the w/o food is a bio availability issue, so if the pills cause you upset you can still take them with food.
Even better try taking meds in liquid form. Some meds come in liquid form...you can also make your own, too. Liquids pass thru a membrane better....it is the ideal form to take meds in because you will get the highest concentration into your body with less or no upset. Timed released meds need to stay in a solid form but other meds are worth checking with the RX to see if you can mix them with a liquid (The Rx can sugest
liquid to use,avoid OJ). Some things taste nasty (like Doxipin) but I know Prozac works OK.
I've just changed Rx's and am going to see if they are a compounding Rx, so they could prepare this for me. There are some shelf life issues when you convert a med to liquid so "at home" you don't want to prepare more than 1 dose at a time.
Again you want to run all this by the Rx before proceding.
