Freud bag :D

The glasses neck thing is really geeky. I'd hold out. My dog chews them if she finds them first. At $20 bucks.

I did drop my nice sunglasses. Of course glasses always fall lens down right where I look straight out. Of course.

My walking sticks came today. They actually might help. They do more than one might imagine, at least the laps I did my living room. It has been pouring here!

Do you use the elliptical stepper? I always found that more difficult than the stairstepper or treadmill. And I would need earbuds too :-

I use the elliptical, no stepper, used the treadmill once upon a time...elliptical seems easier on my joints. I did have a running habit though, when I used the treadmill, but that was a long time ago.
"skull candy" ear buds- are my favorite :-)
You just hear the iPod clearly and the external noise is shut out. It is a beautiful thing. I was listening to a podcast called "story corps", short stories of people, just about 5 minutes long each. Not bad, but "the moth" is my favorite.
Enjoy the walking sticks.

Seriously you can get lasix surgery to avoid the glasses and new proceedure out now that I can't afford as can correct both near and farsightness at same time glasses not needed. I got the PRK lasix for distance as couldn't handle bifocals even progressive lenses spent thousands on them and eight years ago got the lasix best thing I ever did. Phillipa

Phillipa, so your distance vision is still good? That's great. I think I'll need to stick to glasses for now--. (I don't risk a procedure because of reactions :-/ that I can have to ordinary stuff.)

This pillbox has a little cartoon bubble next to Freud that says "don't forget your meds"
He's bossy ;-)
I took just a little less seroquel last night and I was busy, busy today, and had to rein in my goofiness. It's not my natural state, just a backlash from the med. I cleaned out my closet....amazing.

Hey, good work re: closet! I am impressed. I started mine on the weekend. I took everything out. The closet is clean, but there are piles all over.

There are some words we just don't use but that Americans do. Closet and armoir(sp?).

I'm familiar with 'out of the closet'. Closet is a word in Shakespeare. In Lear Edmund says 'I have locked it in my closet'.

So, what is a closet? A cupboard? (Why isn't that spelled cubbord?)

sigi, where do you hang your clothes? In the US, clothes are (or should be in my case) in a closet. Coats and hanging stuff. Maybe in the bedroom. Other room have closets (if one is fortunate) for brooms, vacuum cleaners, whatever. Linen closets.

What do you call them?

Cup + board = cupboards in the kitchen. It's an older word often replaced by cabinet. I pronounce it cubboard, too.

Then there is a cubby at school or a cubbyhole where you can put a small amount of personal belongings, lunch, coat, boots, but I don't know the origins.

Armoire (sp), well I never knew anyone growing up that had one, but I've read about them. Pottery Barn and other decorator sources suggest every house should have one. My son has one. His room has no closets, and ours is from a garage sale.

I hang my clothes in 'that room' which is an alcove off the bathroom.
We have cupboards and wardrobes and walk in wardrobes and rooms.
We have no other options.
So an armoire (sp?) is a cupboard or a wardrobe.
We of course had water closets.
And a certain number of rules, too tangled to follow, about the correct word to use.

Sigi walk in the closet get what you are looking for, armour a dresser where top has two doors and drawers inside. Then below more drawers to put folded clothes in, watercloset bathroom here with shower, some tubs also to bathe in and toilets or commodes and sinks built into cabinets that have doors and drawers. Some have pedestal sinks. And there a jumper is a sweater isn't it? Chris told me that one. PJ

Oh yes. Wardrobe. That's British. As in "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe."

Perfectly equivalent!

And jumpers are sweaters. I get a smarmy (that's British?) catalogue from the U.K. that insists on marketing their sweaters to the Yanks by calling them jumpers. I fall for it.

So are jerseys. Now I'm curious about the origins of jersey knitted fabric.

She said 'What in tarnation are chooks?'

Chooks are chickens?

Tarnation from tarnish or a euphemism for damnation.

(Let's see what auto asterisker does.)

It transcribed earlier that someone had graduated Magna C*m laud.

(PJ, did you catch that?)

FB yes and I find it amusing that a high ranking title grade from an acedemic college would require autoastericking? Now is that cause for a block when giving an award name? Languages differ don't they? Love PJ Phillipa or whatever!!!!!

I would never have thought of that without the autoasterixing.

That livens it up and creates all sorts of exciting perspectives.

There's a lot to be said for civility after all.

I didn't know that tarnation came from damnation.

I was reading about the first 10 years of Australia. It was a prison in a hostile and not understood environment, and all that the people wanted to do was get their hands on spirits. Sort of like today.

A windmill was sent out from Britain to grind corn with. It only had 2 sails but could grind 10 bushels a day. This continued until someone stole the remaining sails, probably to build a still with.

I haven't yet needed distance glasses and I haven't yet reached the age where I put glasses on and find I already have glasses on, but I am at the point where I have reading glasses in every room in the house. That way I'm not constantly searching for my glasses. I can't read a thing without glasses. I am also noticing that my seven or eight pairs of 1.75 mg glasses may need to be upgraded to 2.25 mg. My eyes get weaker and weaker. Getting old sucks.

So I have been wearing my ad on my upper arm. Today I went swimming in the public pool with my son. (Yes, I am improving!) Why are people glancing at my arm, you know, the way some people look at breasts or other things they want to apprise on the sly?

Duh.

I'm glad it doesn't have a picture of Freud on it.
