There are some words we just don't use but that Americans do. Closet and armoir(sp?).

I'm familiar with 'out of the closet'. Closet is a word in Shakespeare. In Lear Edmund says 'I have locked it in my closet'.

So, what is a closet? A cupboard? (Why isn't that spelled cubbord?)
