Hey kk,

I'm fine. I have dogs and would never shoot one even to get out of a lie. I dread the day when my dogs will reach the Old Yeller stage. I would shoot a lawyer though. Jus kiddin. Anyway, I've heard that laughter is a good thing, even therapeutic. Offending people is a bad thing, so its probably best to warn people when jokes are about religion, politics, gender, race, class, physical appearance, illness and pets. I guess that pretty much leaves us with just f@rt jokes. They can be pretty funny though.

I'll get one last dog joke out of the way here, I last told it a couple years ago...

I was in one of my favorite bars the other night and the bartenter said, "Toph, you're a good drinker, how about one of my famous triple martinis?"

I reply, "No, Joe, I can drink with the best of them, but that triple martini is too much for me."

So Joe says, "Come on Toph, you can handle it."

I reply, "You know, the last time I had that damn triple martini, I went home and blew chunks!"

Joe insists, "I still think you can handle this drink, Toph."

So I say, "You don't seem to understand, Joe, my dog's name is chunks!"

Have a fun day kk.

what kind of trigger is this one you think toph? would it be animal cruelty trigger? although, i used to have the most beautiful husky (god, he was gorgeous) and had a fried who uesd to ask all the time about the same thing you joked about. the answer was a resounding NO!!!!!!! she frightened me a bit with that one. almost to the point that i wanted to lock her in the basement. would that be people cruelty then?

i'd assume she thought i couldn't take a joke, but i heard rumors that images came up on the internet of her, a dog, adn a man (sounds like a bad joke, eh?). don't know if i believe it or not. i never saw the images, but she does seem the type. yuckie! double yuckie. never trust a junkie with a beautiful dog, eh?

yesterday was a fun day (no, no animals here :)

hope it was a fun day for you toph (for some reason, i had 'with you' instead of 'for you'. wonder what that means? i think it means i need a vacation..... i swear, when it gets warmer, i'm going swimming with my fishes in the small coy pond in my yard. i don't care hwo ridiculous i look, most my body hanging out of the pond, throwing most of the fish out (and that right there my friend is indeed animal cruelty, but i fear it is kk cruelty to be out of that water), but poor kk really needs that water!).

have the best day ever toph. and got any more good jokes? the local liquor store has a sign hanging that reads 'no loose women allowed' everytime i go near i wonder if some alarm will go off when i enter. i haven't been caught yet. though, their selection of foreign beer has much to be desired. i still frequent the pllace, as it is within walking distance and my mother in law has been visiting quite frequently. good thing there's a case of some good mexican beer in fridge right now.... mmmmm beer, friday, coffee, klonopin and a few painkillers for my teeth. i guess life is pretty good. suppose i'm pretty simple to please, eh?

have the best friday ever!

sorry to say this verne, but i'm going to be honest yet again.

have a great day. it is friday and i find that to be the best. well, i don't give up, i don't tend to do that. i'm just a bit upset by this. i honestly feel a bit hurt and kk just hates feeling hurt.

i feel i've been nothing but honest, sincere, and especially kind to you. not just to be kind, but because i wanted to make you more comfortable. or befriend you. or something stupid like that.

nevermind, this online communication must not be for me either. sort of like what you said or wrote. it's hard for sincerity to be 'seen' through a computer screen anyway.

take care of yourself dear. and i hope you are well (no sarcasm there). and if i've offended you, hurt you, pissed you off, made you angry, somehow put you out, put you off, or done anything other than what i've intended, then i appologize.

again, i do wish you well and hope you take very good care of yourself. you seem like a very nice person.

well wishes,

A man walks into a bar. The bartender looks at him and notices he has a steering wheel stuck down the front of his pants. "Hey," he says, "What's with the steering wheel down your pants?" "Ach," says the man, "it's drivin' me nuts!"

Remember René Descartes, the French philosopher who made famous the quote "I think, therefore I am..."? Anyway, this is how he died.

Descartes was having a drink at his local bar when the bartender asked him: "Would you like another beer, René?".

Descartes responded: "I think not, thank you," and his body suddenly vanished.

gg, acting as deputy

If I said nothing wrong, why did I get a warning. Oppsie me, for not using the report button. But since the joke was allowed, it wouldn' have done anything anyways. So my believe of not having such jokes allowed on this site would have been keep hush hush. That is why I didn't push the tattle tale button. Besides the decions are very subjective to the deputy as what is civil and what isn't and being a part of the social community as a duel role, doesn't give you an objective view point in order to be fair because of your role in the "in crowd".

Thanks vern, but it looks like I am fighting a losing battle. You can't win when the fight isn't equal. I can't block anyone, can I? I can't even report a duputy , Dr. Bob isn't around and what is another deputy who is in the club against Happyflower going to make a judgement?

I see. I was actually asking what words in my post represented the concept that you did something wrong, but no matter. Looking at it now, I see it was probably more of a rhetorical question.

As to your other beliefs, there's not a damn thing I can do that would influence them, nor can I influence your feelings. I certainly can't influence your behavior, either. Taken altogether, it does leave me a bit puzzled as to why such strong feelings have developed. I certainly don't feel as if anything I say or do could matter that much to any one person on the internet. But I can sit with not understanding that, at least at the moment.

I wish you peace, HF. I have no desire to wish otherwise.

Well I was told by the warning that "I" am not complaining in the correct Babble ABC's of rules. So I must have done something wrong according to you in order to get that warning from you. And the Pardon Me? Which is how you started the post off , is that a way to calm the situation down, as a poster, as a deputy? Do you think you had any role in the strong feelings on this board.

There's nothing that said you did something wrong. It says please do this, and here's why. My post does not say a single thing about any action or inaction of yours. You are inferring from the context that it mentioned your action/inaction. But now I'm getting pedantic, and that's not helpful.

> And the Pardon Me? Which is how you started the post off , is that a way to calm the situation down, as a poster, as a deputy?

It was my way of expressing my surprise, and it signaled that a question about what was said was likely to follow.

> Do you think you had any role in the strong feelings on this board.

Are you referring to your apparent strong feelings, or something else? My general view on emotions, strong or otherwise is that they would not be stimulated if someone were indifferent to the stimulus. So the emotions/strong feelings come from the person having them. It might be related to something about me, but only if they are not indifferent to begin with.

Specifically in this thread, I do think that the subject line of my first post to you probably wasn't all that nice. In thinking about this now, I remember that I was writing the post more just to point out an option for you. Then I figured I'd include the FAQ, since it had the link in it. That must have somehow shifted me into more of a deputy mindset, and the post took on a more "official" tone to me. Then I signed it as a deputy, which was not really my intent when I started writing it. These days, I'm doing a terrible job at doing just one thing at a time, and a post window may stay open on my computer for quite some time before I finish it.

I would imagine a more cut and paste, standard language reminder about the notification button would be more appropriate when writing as a deputy. And a more general, casual reminder without a link to the FAQ or any standard language would be more appropriate when writing that as just GG. So I apologize for smooshing that together and making the post ambiguous.

Sometimes somethings can be cruel and sometimes somethings can be funny.

Sometimes somethings require administrative action and sometimes they don't.

But sometimes it's just about being heard and having a voice recognized, understood and noted.

A simple "I hear you" publicly or privately goes a long long way sometimes.

Sometimes somethings are just that simple.

kk,

I scratched my head when I saw my "sincerity and truth" post. I wasn't implying anything about animal jokes or people who tell them. I think, I was responding to a deeper issue about the civility question sprawled over several threads. I can't go into more detail for fear of being blocked. Had more to do with supporting HappyFlower and not sensitiviy to jokes.

I'm a terrible online communicator. I tend to post something on the door and run away - not waiting around to discuss anything. I'm a *drive-by* poster.

Honestly, I don't care much for the animal jokes but I've whipped too many dead horses to quibble about another's reference to animals.

I meant no offense directed at you.

Verne
