you know, in abnormal psych class yesterday i learned that manic people sometimes wear bright colored clothing. (i also had to listen to the "definition" of depression, as if i don't already fully understand THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!) Do you find that you tend to wear colors that match your moods, or go against your moods, or perhaps this is a completely worthless question to ask? i am really in a good mood today, although it is bad when, by the time you roll out of bed and get a shower, it is already dark outside, you know? I feel like painting my walls bright red, but i can't, i'm in a dorm room. i wonder what i would be charged, if it would be worth it? I hate these white walls! how bland they are, like the duhhhhhh in my brain, though not right now. just a multicolored thought to throw out there into the SILENCE.

Red walls may make you wake up angry. Yellow walls, however, or at least a yellow ceiling, could help you awaken with a sunny disposition.
I have blue-green and green-blue sponge-painted walls, and I wake up drowning.

.........hahaha, that is real irony
>Do you find that you tend to wear colors that match your moods, or go against your moods, or perhaps this is a completely worthless question to ask?
.........I always wear black, except for when I wear burgundy, dark green, or some other colors ---but, mostly black. 8-)

........yeah, or when you have real bad insomnia and start to cry when you see the sun come up. I can relate to both.

.........well, ok, here is some unasked for advice...you can buy sheets (or a sheet) and "sheet" your wall (like wallpaper only with ...well, sheets). They make bright red these days (and lots of other colors, including black), and you can get em on sale at low cost, plus easy to change. Would make a nice backdrop for any other art you wanted to put on them too.

I must be in a decent mood today, I'm wearing my favorite color. There are days when I look at that blouse and say there is no way I can wear that this week. It winds up being a barometer. Bad days it's just jeans or neutral pants and a pull-on shirt. Days I care, It might be a dress, nice slacks and a blouse which will need to be ironed. Kind of wierd to wear the blouse, I'll have to iron it and that isn't fun anymore.
Another way to get wall coloring is buy yards of material (usually cheaper than sheets). If your walls have flat paint on them and are not speckled you can use suction cups on the top of the wall and slit holes at the top. Actually I do my bulletitn boards at school with material.
Red is a shouting color and great for distracting you (and terrible for learning disabled -- way to distracting). Yellow has a tendency to be bright and alert you (definitely good for dark days). For learning disabled individuals the ideal color is light, pale blue.

Don't paint your entire living space bright red, it will only jar and agitate you on days when you're not feeling "up".I have a great red diningroom, everyone loves it.
I painted the base coat tomato-soup red, then tinted some glaze with a dark umber. Brushed it on the wall, then broke up the glaze by patting it with a wad of plastic wrap. Light floor, bright white ceiling, it looks sophisticated.
Ralph Lauren and Benjamin Moore sells this water-
based glaze.-Gracie

You can also by a Zinser (sp.?) water-based glaze at Duron. A great restaurant here had the walls Gracie described. It was lovely, and lots of people tried to imitate it.
Tell me, Gracie--how many base coats of red did you have to paint before it looked opaque?

Hi Beardy,
It's been quite a few years since I painted the diningroom (still looks good), but if I remember correctly, it only took one coat of the red paint,
two at the most, because I almost always use Benjamin Moore. It's expensive but high-quality, truely one-coat paint.
