Phobia of unknown - triggers mania

Posted by rjlockhart on November 8, 2005, at 23:39:40

I just had a alterned mind state of being, losing my control, going insane, horrible fears.

Ok, when this happens, for some reason my body goes panic-hypomanic, because i feel im on a bridge that is rocking inside my mind. I go into a manic mode, but at the same time, its fear, its stimulating, it feels ok, but its not mania that is happy.

Its usally a trigger at night, like right now, as im posting. I feel great fears, i dont want to think about them becuase they will really disturb me.

I wonder why i go through this, i realize that it is not knowing how to cope with something. Chain reaction.

Can you remember what happened that tripped off those fears in the first place?
What were you doing right before you felt that fear? What made you feel afraid?

Sometime this helps as we can kind of diagram out the whole sequence that get you to your manic state.

What to take a go at it?

it start about a year ago, i had a siezure in the car, and i was disoriented. Perception changed. My dad i worked for put so much strain on my, called my horrible names. I felt I was going to shatter to pieces, am i going to keep it together?

Since then i worry, its like imprinted.

That is the sequence.

hi Matt,
I think the body releases certain chemicals when you experience fear. The thing that's called "fight or flight" that helps your body respond to dangerous situations -- it directs your body to release huge amounts of adrenaline & other chems into the body. If you WERE in a life/death situation, you would need that to be able to fight or flee.

But in some people, this chemical release happens in response to thoughts, not just physical situations. It can cause all kinds of scary physical sensations. The fear, even though it's in your mind, can trigger all kinds of responses throughout your body. That can be extremely scary!

And it IS like a chain reaction. You feel the fear, then you feel other responses, and that triggers more fear, etc.

Can your talk to a doctor about this and see if there are ways to control it?

I hope you're doing ok.

So you have like a tape loop of this playing in your head? I had a series of traumatic events that would not settle down in my memory banks, just came back to me every time I'd close my eyes, or try to chill out, or just not "do" anything. these were thing that happened a long time ago, and the memories really haunted me. It created severe anxiety for me. That I would never be able to Get Over It.
Is that what happens to you?

Does your dad continue to call you nasty names?
I hope my questions don't upset you.
