Noots and brain supps

Nobody ever mentions nootropics yet sales show millions take them.
I'd love to see some stacks that work for people, either in conjunction with or instead of meds. For a change I will let someone else state-their-stack 1st :)

I rely heavily on alternatives to help keep my doses of meds low.

For depression, I take coffee, pure cocoa powder green tea, folic acid, b12 and omega 3.

For anxiety, magnesium niacin, rosemary, gaba powder, glycine powder and ginger root help.

I use melatonin for sleep, occasionally.

Yeah I take melatonin too but every night with occasional breaks. Good stuff! Cant remember dreams at all (which for me is very welcomed). Makes Valdoxan comparable to sugar. Never got the point of it. Anyone been helped by Valdoxan (agomelotine)?

Been taking 3g of niacin + 5g vit C for a while now. HAD to get off those satins! And each blood test since have showed stable cholesterol levels. Thats why I take in mainly. Done no tests to check it's mood benefits. How does niacin help anxiety linkadge, in ur own words?

Why the high dose of C? Seems that its often added as a precaution. Against oxidation and probably other toxic side-effects.

Niacin has benzo like properties (an ability to modulate the gaba-a receptor). It also has antioxidant properties.

Niacin, like mood stabilizers, may inhibit GSK-3 which can stabilize the sleep wake cycle.

I'm a little leery of megadose vitamin C for long periods of time. Some studies suggest it can be hard on the kidneys. You may want to keep it under a gram, if possible. Just be aware, and perhaps mention it to your doctor - to assess kidney function periodically (just a thought).

Soluble fiber can also be good for cholesterol.

I hear ya on the high doses of Vitamin C.
I used to take the 5g or more daily, and I'm not too sure that didn't help my body produce kidney stones a couple of times over the past 10 year.

I try to do 1-3g daily.

I only do 3g and that's been for abut a year. It's part of so many stacks. I read a lot of Patrick Holford's books. He often recommends 3g or over. It's a great recycler of other antioxidants. He says the 'bowl test' will give tell you how much C you can tolerate. Basically the dose which gives u loose bowls.
Patrick also did much work with Dr Carl Pfeiffer who, together with Abram Hoffer used massive doses of C for conditions such as schizophrenia.
Perhaps the C wasn't the only culprit in causing stones but rather the former over C. Like calcium sorbate. I take plain ascorbic acid powdre. Or even not balancing it properly with other vits like niacin which Carl Pfeiffer also used a lot of. The aproach is called Ortho molecular medicine. Another popular poster on here swears by it.
Just food for thought.
