Light box experiences?

Posted by Wildflower on January 26, 2005, at 14:25:44

A light box was recently mentioned to me as a possible relief from the SAD part of my depression. The problem is that I'm afraid of the effect on my eyes and skin. Anyone had experiences that have affected either one?

Also, I know these are very bright but are they strong enough to penetrate vinyl blinds? I don't want my neighbors to think that an alien lands in my house each morning. ;-)

Hi Wildflower,
I have a light therapy lamp from Full Spectrum Solutions. I also just got an Apollo GoLite P1 for travel. So I really like my light therapy, so much so that I don't want to miss even a day.

I've never had any skin reactions or eye reactions. You want to make sure that whatever unit you get has UV filter to avoid harmful light.

Also, I asked my next-door neighbor if the light was an issue, since our bedroom is directly across from their 4-year-old's. They have never noticed it. I use a vinyl shade at the moment on the window. (Sigh, someday we'll have time to decorate the upstairs....)

good luck to you.

gg

Does anyone have the Apollo goLite P1 that can give me an opinion on it?

The price through CostCo looks pretty reasonable. I just need to find someone with a membership card...

Hi GG,

The website doesn't mention an audible alarm clock. Does your model have one? I need both the light and noise to wake me up.

I'm planning on using this small one at home.
