Treating anxiety- GAD

Posted by questioner on November 18, 2003, at 16:16:40

Hi,

I'm nigh certain I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder... or rather, my anxiety tends to induce depression rather than the other way around. I don't have health insurance right now, but even if I did, I'd want to avoid medication as long as I can. Anyone have suggestions for herbal medication that treats anxiety effectively?

I'm already trying to work on breathing exercises and meditation whenever possible, but that can only help so much on a really bad day.

Thanks!

well you really should get tested to see if you really do have general anxiety disorder. I thought I had that and then they told me that I'm bipolar, but I also dont like taking meds, but some of the herbal things that I take that is for anxiety are Unda #9 and #24 (liquid)(the only meds I am taking right now), Chamomile, Hyland's Calms Nerve Tension Sleeplessness, Crystal Star Relax Caps, Now Brand 5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan). Basically you could go to your local Co-Op, look in the phone book under health care or such related subjects.
There is this 'herbal dictionary' that you might want to get, it tell you about all there different kinds of herbs and how they can help you and about different disorders.
