I vote for Klonopin as being the more difficult drug to discontinue. For me, the withdrawal effects from stopping Klonopin were like trying to discontinue a benzidiazapine and a SRI antidepressant at the same time. The brain-zaps were so forceful, I described them a being like lightening bolts. Bad.

I will be interested in seing what other people have to say.

It's been a long time...

I took Klonopin .5mg once daily for 5 1/2 yrs, and c/o to valium w/minimal issues and am now tapering directly from valium. I never developed tolerance on Klonopin. I couldnt directly taper from it, however. One tiny cut caused agony. Valium is diff, easy in comparison for tapering. So,if you do take klonopin, you can always go to valium to taper off when you need to. Altho, Im sure some have alot of issues w/valium. My only exp w/Ativan is getting injected w/it in the ER a few times. It really calmed me down in a minute and made me sleep.

After all the years on benzos unless they become illegal guess on them for life. I have just stopped them in the past I think both valium and ativan and it was fine . I still remember miltown with valium. One day stopped miltown and never noticed. When about a month later and saw the doc he was amazed no withdrawal. But at the time was happy and going to school, own aerobics business, going through a divorce, raising kids. But I was busy so that was the key for me. Phillipa

I would agree with SLS.

I have taken both Ativan and Clonazepam.

I found Clonazepam harder to get off. Even though, in theory, Ativan should be harder due to its short half life.

Klonopin. I don't think its just because its so high potency. I think the way it affects mood and things, its harder. Ativan was more PRN more me, but it didn't have a significant effect on my mood. Over time, Klonopin kind of flattened my mood. Tapering was rough, physically (headaches, insomnia, agitation), but also psychologically, in a way that I can't quite express.

Hey there, curious about this... did you cross from .5 MGs Klonopin to 10MGS Valium?

I used 1000% chewable Biotin to get off Klonopin. Went cold turkey and never felt any withdrawal from 2 mg Klonopin a day. Got the Biotin at GNC.

I read that benzos deplete Biotin and have been taking Nature Made Biotin supplement. Wow, that's interesting about your experience! I havent taken it consistently. I will try it everyday and see. Thanks!

Gradchik

Remember I use the chewable from GNC. I don't think I digested the pill form.
