Extending the AD effects of Sleep Deprivation

Posted by rovers95 on August 2, 2013, at 16:17:44

Hi

Whenever I go a night with no/very little sleep I experience a vast improvement in mood for the next 48 hours. Has anybody got any tips for prolonging these effects?

Cheers

Rover

I think that lithium and pindolol have demonstrated some success at extending the effects of sleep deprivation.

Antidepressants have demonstrated (I think nortiptyline and sertaline) have been studied in this regard.

I'm afraid to say I get completely the opposite reaction
A slightly better mood in the Morning, followed by a vicious crash later in the day
If I go a day or two without 8hrs minimum I start to get very irritable & depressed
Missing a whole nights sleep & I feel deeply depressed for the next day or two
Wish I had your reaction
Does this mean my Brain is wired differently?

Same for me. Recommendations are that the average amount of sleep that is optimal is 7-8 hours a night for adults. Phillipa

I know there's something too it
Because a lot of people get relief from Sleep Deprivation
Maybe I get more benefits if I'm already feeling ok
And then when I don't sleep I do feel better in the Morning
Still crash later in the day though
