Seroquel XR 300mg

What do you know about this drug and how long does it take to really start working. Did not sleep well at all first night, last night, and am sleepy today at work.

It depends on what you are taking it for.

At 300mg, that should get better with time. In general, the higher the dosage, the less the sleepiness.

Seroquel is some weird stuff. I am taking it along with Zoloft and lithium. My doc. wants me to take it to help me sleep. He explained to me that I could take up to 400mg at night. He lead me to believe that the more I took, the more tired I would get. I quickly settled on 200mg (for about 10 weeks now). I see a lot of folks here taking far less than that for sleep (25mg-50mg). Really 200mg now seems to do very little in the way of making me tired now (tolerance?). Would it be a good idea to cut the dose in half? May be just as effective or better?
Thanks

It probably has more to do with a build up of the major metabolite of Seroquel, which is a potent NE reuptake inhibitor. This can be very alerting and cancels out the sedative effect. I would try 50mg to see what happens. It might take a few days for the metabolite to be eliminated from the body, so don't judge your reaction to the lower dose on the first night.

Good luck.

Id be interested in those who are taking Seroquel how Seroquel XR works out.

Its a plan on the table to drop in a 400mg XR in place of my regular Seroquel, yet one more drug trial, just a thought as to whether it smooths out the peaks and valleys of plasma level and provides more relief throughout the day.

It is known though that for practically every patient on regular Seroquel, the 6 hour half life is not an issue and single night dosing is the norm.

So far the 300XR seems to be picking up as a sleep aid. Am also taking Zoloft and Lamictal. Have Lorazepam for rescue from anxienty attacks. I am tired of not having a lust for life. Hope I can get excited again. My Doc said I get the lows of Manic Depression but the manics only equal a normal happiness not a tru manic one.
