Hope everyone sleeps well tonight...

Posted by Dinah on July 16, 2002, at 23:37:47

And there isn't a full house when the monsters come after me tonight.

Sweet dreams to all.

thanks Dinah (nm)

Hope I don't have the same dream as last night. There were lots of slugs in it, and I was naked. (And not in a good way, it was one of those Oops I'm naked in public scenarios.)

That is by far the most I've been blessed with since July 1. And while I'm by nature in the 8-10 hour sleep category, I'm very grateful. No buzziness either. I think I'll go wash the dishes.

Two nights in a row too much to ask for......

At least I had one. And at least I'm not buzzy tonight.

OK, that's it for positive thinking. Waaaah! I want some sleep. Anyone have a peppermint soap remedy for night monsters?

I'm not much help, having no favor with the sleep goddess myself, but somewhere recently I read this: instead of counting bouncy perky sheep jumping over the fence, you should count sheep sleeping peacefully in the meadow, as you float slowly above. At least it's a pleasant thing to visualize while not sleeping.

I like the idea of floating peacefully above peacefully sleeping sheep.

It's much more conducive to sleep than visualizing forcing Effexor company executives to take a full course of their own medication, withdrawal and all.

But in the end I visualized a double dose of Klonopin, which (eventually) turned out to be the most conducive to sleep.

And in the meantime I did my part to stimulate the economy by internet shopping. Insomnia wreaks havoc on the pocketbook. I don't always make the wisest shopping decisions in the middle of the night.

Oh yeah? What did you buy? I went thru a little jewelry shopping spree (some modest pendants), but naturally they all look better in the photos. I think they color-enhance them.

Then there's always Amazon, where I can browse for hours and hours. Fortunately, adding stuff to my wishlist is about as satisfying as actually ordering it.

Yes, Tabitha, my save for later list at Amazon is a mile long. Then every once in a while I lose my senses and actually order everything.

Last night was Barbie dolls.

OK, now no one laugh. I like Barbie dolls.

Oh, girl! What kind?

I bought an online Barbie once, I call her Fire Goddess Barbie, though her real name is something else. Let's see if I can find a pic...

Isn't she splendid? She has floor-length ketchup red hair with streaks. I was kind of afraid she might bring me bad karma though, attract housefires or something.

She's gorgeous Tabitha. Now I see another one I want. :)

Actually, pretty standard ones the other night. Bewitched, Irish Princess, that sort of thing.

But I have yet another confession. I like the plain simple ones too, where you can dress them up in different clothes and brush their hair with those little tiny brushes. I kept all my childhood ones, but most of their legs fell off.

It's a nice respite from real life.

I was sort of a tom-boy growing up, I liked Marbles and kickball and hanging out with the boys. :) I had cars 'til I was 13, and few dolls or barbies. I did have an EasyBake Oven though. Remember those, they still have them. Oh well, Dinah, come play Barbies with my 3 year old - she's already loving babies and Barbies.

Sounds like fun! I saved all my dolls from when I was a girl and then ended up having a boy! So I just play with them myself.

I tried to no avail to convince my husband that boys could have fun with an Easy Bake oven. So my son and I just bake in the real kitchen instead. Now my husband is having fits because my son enjoys helping me sew doggy diapers.

But he's all boy too. Building blocks, trucks, guns, playing cops and reckless drivers (we've kept him rather sheltered I guess, no cops and robbers yet). :)
