PEA experiences

Posted by Tomatheus on November 21, 2012, at 15:11:13

Hello,

I'm considering trying phenylethylamine for my chronic fatigue or vegetative depression, and I'm wondering what experiences others on this board have had with the supplement. I have tried countless supplements for my fatigue and related symptoms, many of which have only helped temporarily, so one of the things I'm wondering is how long the effects of PEA last for. One review that I read on a site that sells PEA indicated that the effects of the supplement only lasted for a few minutes. Has this been your experience, or did you notice some longer-lasting benefits from taking PEA?

It's been several years since I tried it. I found it too stimulating, but I'm hypersensitive to stimulants. Even a cup of tea is too stimulating for me. Seems to me its effects lasted for a few hours.

Hugh,

Thank you for your reply. I still haven't decided whether to try phenylethylamine at this point. I tend to think that because my response to selegiline only lasted for about three days that my chances of experiencing lasting benefits from PEA are not too favorable, but I might just try it out of desperation. I'm responding to ascorbyl palmitate (a fat-soluble version of vitamin C) at the moment, but if this response gives way I might still consider PEA. That is, unless I come across something that sounds better first.

I tried 500mg DLPA Life Extension brand today along with B6 100mg and noticed some boost in my mood, energy, wakefulness. I was almost going to lay down but then 10 minutes after the dose something felt a bit different. There was also a greater sense of motivation. This appeared to last for about an hour or so. Not much longer but I did not feel like going to bed at least even beyond that initial period.

Then later today I took an additional 500mg without b6 and felt a similar boost. I don't think it worsened my anxiety much. I just wish the positive effects lasted longer.

If you come across any new information please post more as I will try to follow this topic. Or if you end up trying it. If you already have it I don't think it would hurt to try one dose.

I wonder what role Magnesium may have for DLPA/PEA and possibly L-Tyrosine. Does anyone know?

Alex,

Thank you for responding and for sharing your DL-phenylalanine experience with me. It of course is good that you noticed some benefits from the supplement, but too bad that they didn't last for very long.

I never did try phenylethylamine, but I have tried l-phenylalanine. It seemed to help my concentration and energy, but its effects seemed to disappear after about a week on the supplement. I just started a trial with regular niacin last night, so I'm not planning on adding any other supplements at the moment, but if I don't end up getting any lasting benefits from the niacin, I might give PEA a shot.

I'm not sure about the role that magnesium might have for DLPA/PEA and/or l-tyrosine. Maybe somebody else might know that.

try emsam, combined with PEA, which has a synergistic effect. it worked for my depression after everything else failed.

as for combining dexedrine, try tyrosine. It's a precursor to dopamine, so there's a synergistic effect. magnesium and zinc work well for optimizing concentration of dexedrine as well.

dexedrine can make you more anxious, more stressed out, and more hard on yourself at higher doses. keep a low dose, no more than 30 mg, 40mg/day tops.

I purchased a bottle of pure PEA and I alternate it with my phenylalanine. I really like it. It's motivating, like phenylalanine, but it isn't quite as "spiky," a little smoother and happy-making. I still alternate it because, after a few days in a row, the effect seems to lessen. But I like it.

I took PEA with selegiline for over a year. Besides the addictive rush and significant weight loss, long term use of PEA caused major skin sensitization AKA horrible rashes.

I did notice that after a couple of weeks of starting this regimen I was in the zone socially for about a week or two. The social comfort went away after that and never came back for the rest of the time I used this combo.
