i think it's the high protein diet...ketosis can cause nausea...
anyone know of a way of reducing ketones to fix nausea??? regularly snacking on carbs may work after a few days...

High protein will not cause ketosis, since amino acids can be converted to glucose.
Ginger is considered antiemetic.
Personally I have found licorice quite effective.

thanks for the tips. i'm trying peppermint tea. it seems to help a bit. i should go out and get licorice tea and ginger...
I have read from a few sources that a high protein diet can lead to ketosis, despite the ability of the body to make glucose from amino acids:
wikipedia: "If the diet is changed from a highly glycemic diet to a diet that does not substantially contribute to blood glucose, the body goes through a set of stages to enter ketosis."

can food allergies cause nausea?

Yes definitely they can. If you suspect you have allergies then get a simple blood test done at the doctor, it's not 100% but it's a start. The DIY allergy testing kits are a waste of money and time imho. Also take a look at a 'stone age' diet. It's controversial with some people but the underlying reasoning for going on this diet is respectable.
The human body hasn't evolved fast enough to cope with the modern life style. The old adage "You are what you eat" is as relevant as ever.

I eat high fat normal protein low carbs and no nausea. Once adapted to 'ketosis' yes it does seem to be possible to turn excess protein into sugar. Anyway where did this ketosis come from?
