Did zippo for me, but I know one or two people who swear by it. Since it's free of SEs, the only thing you have to lose by trying it is the cost of the bottle.

Rescue Remedy didn't work for me either, but oddly enough the Bach Rock Rose and Aspen worked quite well for moderate anxiety/nervousness. They weren't enough for terrifying anxiety though(the kind I really have no words to describe)

Did SBA for me. Not only that, it's about 40% ethanol, and I'm over 7 years sober. A bit of a trigger. Just wasn't expecting the alcohol bit.

Oh, I didn't know it was 70% alcohol, I guess if a few drops under the tongue don't work I could always stash a few bottles in my purse for those really desperate moments. ;0

A 20mL bottle (0.70 oz for the nonmetric world)of Bach Flower Rescue Remedy (RR) purchased in USA contains the following:

Active Ingredients: 5x dilution of Helianthemum nummularium HPUS, Clematis vitalba HPUS, Impatiens glandulfera HPUS, Prunus cerasifera HPUS, Ornithogalum umbellatum HPUS.

Inactive ingredients: 27% alcohol

alprazolam it is not. helpful for shock? yes. helpful in times of panic? not as much.

Bach Essences are well known but there are many other companies with more than 37 remedies to try.

Some recovering AAers will put the four drops of RR in hot tea water to lessen the intensity of the alcohol.

RR also comes in a cream that can be applied topically if ingestion of the homeopathic tincture is problematic.

I've personally never been without a bottle of RR in my purse or in my car first aid kit since 1995.

I couldn't remember, as I gave mine away to somebody who found it helpful. All I remembered was it was in the realm of concentrations found in liquor.

I have used it when I was under extreme stress and it worked for me.
I like the cream because my skin reacts to other creams as if they were toxic.
My skin is sensitive as well as my self.
I like it.

Traveler,

I use it from time to time when overwhelmed and stressed. I do not expect RR to work *anything* like a benzo or to have *any* sedating effect on me.

I do expect to feel just a smidge more relaxed than ten minutes prior to taking some or using the cream on my arm or back of neck/shoulder blade area. I do expect sudden unexpected crying jags to turn down a notch or two after taking RR.

It works differently for everyone. I don't use it as replacement for anything but instead as a part of my herb/homeopathic/supplement box o' snake oils and toads feet.

-tongue firmly in cheek on that last part-

short answer--yes, rescue remedy works very well for the things I take it for. <<---zenhussy's personal experience speaking only for herself as the sole test subject and nonobjective reporter
