A lot of ADs can cause anxiety and agitation, especially during start up. Some even cause akathisia in some people.

Ummm...I don't know if its the best choice for anxiety. Its approved for GAD, I think, but...that doesn't mean its the best choice.

I don't know much about OCD. I've read that higher doses of ADs are used to counter OCD, but if you can't tolerate a particular AD very well, then...that might not be the best idea.

Some docs give benzos for a couple weeks during AD start up. If it gets intense, you could use a low dose AP/AAP.

Hope this helps.

Cymbalta worked very good for my OCD too. But it caused an anxiety side effect similar to that of having too much coffee. Only thing that gave relief was a low dose of clonazepam.

Mental illness may be caused by to little of serotonin or too much. If your problem is to much the SSRI's and SNRI's will cause anxiety up mild to panic attacks. Cymbalta is a SNRI so probably isn't the drug for you.

The klonopin as you know will relieve the anxiety but I'm not sure it's effective for long term.

I'd like to say Cymbalta is the best and most effective SNRI. Also its better than any SSRI I have tried.
I took it for 3 years after stopping Nardil. I must say it was about 80% as effective as Nardil. Decided to stop Cymbalta when I realised it was negatively affecting my sex life quite drastically.

Forgot to mention I have 2 relatives taking it and they both love it. One of them takes 120mg per day,(not very common practice) and has been doing so for years.
Thinking about going back on it myself.
