Each strain has it's own qualities. If you are anxious, you don't want to get something that makes you paranoid.
Ask. Educate. And find an alternative to smoking, like vaporizing, that won't harm your lungs. Lots of information online. Try NORML.

hi joe

here is my experience w/mj for severe depression;

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20120108/msgs/1006932.html

not sure where you are located. my pdoc at the time did not discourage it. it did help me sleep and i was using less klonopin pretty quickly.

the strain and amount are key. less is more here. unfortunately i smoked too much one night and did not feel well at all mentally.

the same pdoc told me she had several of her patients on it. mostly for sleep and anxiety though.

do your research. it's split down the middle in the psychiatric community from what i found. just like almost everything else they give us.

i do know that it is not recommended for those with psychosis obviously.

if you try it, let us know how it goes. i'm curious.

Well, when you say nothing works, what exactly is included in that?

Did you do a personal experiment to rule-in rule-out a hidden chronic infection? Lyme like? Viral? Fungal?

Did you do a personal experiment to rule-in rule-out an environmental toxin accumulation illness? How much mercury, lead, cadmium, and aluminum are in your pee when provoked with high dose DMSA?

Did you do a personal experiment to rule-in rule-out inflammation?

In detail, glucose challenge test, etc, what is the condition of the whole blood sugar aparatus?

Has the thyroid been tested for t3, t4, free t's, and autoimmune?

What other symptoms are there....body and mind? Is there a pattern there? For example, Lyme can look exactly like depression. Add in some joint pains and fatigue, and it looks more clear.

Most of this can be done at home actually.

If none of the above, or only a few, have been thoroughly done, then I would say the effort is not even close to being "nothing seems to work". If you are talking strictly about psychiatric medicines, then yeah, that makes sense. They don't work on any of the above causes of treatment resistant psych symptoms.

In my opinion marijuana is worth a try. Its antidepressant effect takes about 5 days, if it is going to happen. 20% of the population has a certain gene where marijuana worsens depression instead of improves it.

It is not often a miracle or a cure. It is merely a tool to help improve quality of life with chronic illnesses. We should have multiple tools simultaneously, not any single tool.

I know of 2 people who had long histories of psych meds and also went through ECT. Their magic cure ended up being....marijuana. One guy works in a local store. Looking at him, you can't tell. Chronic smokers usually do not have the glassy red eyes. This guy appears absolutely perfectly normal. As long as he has his couple puffs in the morning, afternoon, and evening, he is fine, normal, and productive. So in these cases, marijuana actually was a miracle.

The paranoid thing is most likely from one of these:
-Novice smoker or not a daily smoker.
-Too much. Overdose basically. The same effect can be had at a lower dose. Next time, try a puff then wait 20 minutes before doing another. That way you get where you want to be without going to far.
-Wrong strain. Some plant strains are strongly relaxing while others can be strongly stimulating, even to the mild paranoia thing. Again though, that would not happen if not for taking so much.

Many patients in the medical world usually take measured doses, usually small, 2 to 3 times throughout the day.
