In my opinion marijuana is worth a try. Its antidepressant effect takes about 5 days, if it is going to happen. 20% of the population has a certain gene where marijuana worsens depression instead of improves it.

It is not often a miracle or a cure. It is merely a tool to help improve quality of life with chronic illnesses. We should have multiple tools simultaneously, not any single tool.

I know of 2 people who had long histories of psych meds and also went through ECT. Their magic cure ended up being....marijuana. One guy works in a local store. Looking at him, you can't tell. Chronic smokers usually do not have the glassy red eyes. This guy appears absolutely perfectly normal. As long as he has his couple puffs in the morning, afternoon, and evening, he is fine, normal, and productive. So in these cases, marijuana actually was a miracle.
