Well, when you say nothing works, what exactly is included in that?
Did you do a personal experiment to rule-in rule-out a hidden chronic infection? Lyme like? Viral? Fungal?
Did you do a personal experiment to rule-in rule-out an environmental toxin accumulation illness? How much mercury, lead, cadmium, and aluminum are in your pee when provoked with high dose DMSA?
Did you do a personal experiment to rule-in rule-out inflammation?
In detail, glucose challenge test, etc, what is the condition of the whole blood sugar aparatus?
Has the thyroid been tested for t3, t4, free t's, and autoimmune?
What other symptoms are there....body and mind? Is there a pattern there? For example, Lyme can look exactly like depression. Add in some joint pains and fatigue, and it looks more clear.
Most of this can be done at home actually.
If none of the above, or only a few, have been thoroughly done, then I would say the effort is not even close to being "nothing seems to work". If you are talking strictly about psychiatric medicines, then yeah, that makes sense. They don't work on any of the above causes of treatment resistant psych symptoms.
