I having a lot of down days

Posted by Maxime on January 9, 2010, at 21:20:04

My mood has been down. Of course then I start to panic that the parnate isn't working any more. I need to remind myself that people have good days and bad days. I think I am stressed out over jobs and money. I feel like everything is closing in on me.

I need a hug.

I can relate. Just when I think I'm feeling better and things may be turning a corner, I start to feel awful again. I definitely have more bad days than good. I am hoping a medication change will help me to feel better.

Hang in there. This is not easy and most people don't really understand it so it is easy to feel very alone in it all. I understand the world closing in on you feeling. I have been feeling this way too.

Best wishes,

Morgan

Maxie think it's cause your're now not focused on severe depression that you now have time to worry? Hugs from Phillipa

mmm...I'm trying to think of something

I have though of something that is kinda "homemade"

close your eyes and make a reality that is like a "matrix" in your mind, like the 80's computer's used to design video games and then make it just another place to go to, and construct this place into "a good place"...either to a empty field, to a dreamlike place that causes dopamine and serotonin to release. And put this reality into your subcousious mind so it will act on it, the power of suggestion, dreams, and imagination, then the act of will to do it.

Hugs to you, Maxime. I can totally identify. My depression has also been getting worse, and I've been feeling really overwhelmed about a shaky work situation and money. There is other stuff I won't get into, but that is really stressing me out. I find myself breaking down in tears more and more under the weight of it all.

I think a lot of us are feeling extra down this time of year, on top of everything we already have to deal with. I keep telling myself that at least we're past December 21, which means the days are getting longer instead of shorter.

I wonder if temporarily increasing your med dose would help. I've heard of people with SAD doing that during winter and some women doing it during those certain times of the month when their symptoms are worse.

To all- this is to remind everyone that this is the time of year-January and February -that many people DO get felling low(er) I went to a talk a few years ago on Seasonal Affective Disorder -SAD-and they said even people who don't have SAD -just us "regularly depressed" people get more depressed at this time of year. Remember to take your Vit.D and drag yourself outside or make yourself do something physical. Might help. If this doesn't help, just get the two important food groups- chocolate and carbs and go to bed until spring! Most of us here can relate and hope you're feeling better!

It's a thing about depression, I guess....the situation requires that you spend far more time than is sensible monitoring your mood.

You'd have heard about seeing your moods as like the weather, which I guess means you don't take it personally?

They continue. I wish I could cry, but my body won't let me. A good cry would really help.

I wish I had one of those special heat lamps.

(((Maxime)))

It must be so frustrating not to be able to cry. Have you adjusted your meds at all? (Forgive me if you already discussed this, I don't remember.)

When you talk about heat lamps, do you mean light therapy for SAD? If so, you can try getting a full-spectrum bulb (maybe from a hardware store) to put in a regular lamp you have. It probably won't be as strong, but you could try staying under it longer, maybe even have it on all day. (Or put two or more lamps on at the same time.) Even if you use lamps with regular bulbs it might be better than nothing. Can't hurt to try.

Are you taking vitamin D supplements? They're quite cheap. My doctor says 2000 IU per day is a safe amount.

Sometimes, the more your depression improves, the more capable you are of focusing on the realities of every day living.

Maxime,

I hope these down days are just a temporary blip. Do you think perhaps that you are bored with not working? Or do you think it is the weather?

Still feeling very down and thinking about suicide a lot. I emailed my doctor to see if I could increase the Parnate to 100 mg. I was doing so well and I want that back. Of course it doesn't help that I am stressed about my job situation. In bipolar fashion I spent a lot of money on gifts etc. When will I learn.

Hang in there. Emailing your doctor definitely sounds like a step in the right direction. Feel free to babblemail me if you need a compassionate ear. I've been feeling really stressed out and overwhelmed about a lot of stuff too, including my job and money, and some big, life-changing decisions I need to make soon. The depression is making it very difficult to deal with it all, especially when just getting through the day is tough enough. There have been a few times when I've thought, "I don't feel so bad today," and then I wonder whether I have the strength to deal with the stuff I've been putting off, and I just fall apart again emotionally.

My doctor told me to go up to 100 mg of the Parnate to see if that would help. I pray it does.

Everyone, thank you for the great support you give me. It means a lot to me.

No, it's depression seeping in. All I want to do is sleep and I have no energy and I cry a lot. But my pdoc just increased my Parnate so hopefully I will feel better in a week or so.

I should buy a heat lamp but they are so expensive. I know I suffer from SAD. Maybe I could get a second hand on ebay.
