I am wondering what brain chemicals are effected by low dose prozac and seroquel?
I'm hoping to try prozac again - we'll see if it bothers my bladder. And also some seroquel at night to sleep. Right now I am not sleeping and I am very depressed.
I also think that maybe the seroquel would act as a mood stabilizer to the prozac?

Seroquel: antagonist / blockade of the following
5HT (serotonin) mainly at 5HT1A, 5HT2, D1 (dopamine) and D2, majorly at H1 (histamine) and a1 and a2 (adrenergic) as a byproduct responsible for its sleepymaking, minorly at 5HT3 as all antipsychotics (antiemetic)

So does Prozac and Seroquel counter each other? 50mg. of Seroquel really helps me sleep and I can get by on only 10mg. of Prozac.

What I don't like about Symbyax is that the proportions of the relevent meds are fixed. You have far greater flexibility if you titrate each drug separately.

Yes, they're complementary, especially in treatment resistant OCD, e.g. Not without their own side effects of course -- polypharmacy should ideally be done by someone who knows how to combine medications effectively

They don't counter each other. At that dose, it's only going to be acting as a sedative (H1 blocking, alpha1 blocking). The alpha2 blocking could have adjunctive antidepressant effects by disinhibiting serotonergic neurons, but Seroquel's 6 hr half-life means it won't be around in the daytime. The only other thing it does at that dose is block 5-HT6, which is anxiolytic in animal models and might help you get to bed easier.
