Some little poems to throw away

Posted by ramsea on August 9, 2005, at 3:57:29

IN THE LADY'S CHAPEL

That cross is miraculous
untouched by human hand
so pure
who would dare to preach
beneath it?

IN MYERS PARK

Beneath the dogwood trees
the only snow you'll ever see
in Tallahassee, white petals drifting down
from treetops in spring. Come to me, my love---
my only love---and let me shake white petals
from your perfect hair.
How can I do anything but celebrate?
Your beautiful head, your beautiful heart--
everything suddenly flowering, suddenly
celebrating! I never thought I'd celebrate
love, or beauty--or marriage. Confetti
winding its way in warm breeze
for a marriage that will never be
anything but a brief moment.
