I started out with English Lit. Loved poems and plays. But my method of analysis was going through a poem line by line then stanza by stanza identifying the poetic techniques and commenting on the intended effectiveness of them. In other words I was an analytic philosopher all the way back then. I have a tendancy to overanalyse too. Suck all the meaning out of things :-(
