Yes, it's possible. Diarrhea is listed on the prescribing information pamphlet as a discontinuation symptom (U.S. version from the Effexor website). Even the dizziness and brain zaps are listed.
I'm still not sure if my diarrhea was from discontinuation, stress, or something else, since it's come back from time to time now that I'm 18 days off and under lots of external stress. And I had it off and on before discontinuation. The human body is complex, with lots of things that affect it, so if you suspect something else, by all means investigate!
