Getting off of Zoloft

Posted by potatosnotprozac on June 22, 2005, at 17:39:24

I desperately want my boyfriend to get off of his anti-depressants. He has been on them for 9 years since the age of 19. He has a hard time being emotional (and I mean the GOOD emotional, like you want when you love someone) and I think the Zoloft has something to do with it. He says he wants to get off of it. My questions is, is it even common for people to be on an anti-depressant for THAT long? And am I right to say that he should try to get off of them... especially since he got on them at 19 when most men are going through a lot of chemical changes anyway which could make you feel depressed? And as someone who is trying to support him and help he when he decides to come off of them, what advice does anyone have for me??? THANKS!
