He's very good on heroin, having plenty of experience. It took him a long time with a number of relapses. He eventually felt that a heroin user always has to withdraw under conditions not of his choosing and the only way to avoid that was to avoid the drug.
It was a delight to read. Well written and very funny.
I used to get the New York Review of Books. That was pretty good. And Harpers.
