I'm in the process of reading an article from the New York Times about the events in Memorial Hospital (I think) during the flooding of NO.
Just astonishing.
An old friend just came back from Canada and the US and remarked on how it felt to be among people who considered themselves citizens, and somehow she joined this up with the idea of courtesy....how when she dropped something a young black man picked it up for her and gave it to her with a smile and a direct look.
