That sounds like a great idea.
Our George Foreman grill has removable grilling plates, so it's not hard to clean. But it sounds like a great idea for the little sandwich grill we have.
I know what you mean about dried paper towels. My breadmaker is easy to clean if I do it right away. But if I leave it, the dried bread glues the pieces together. I put a damp paper towel on it, invariably forget it, and end up with a whole succession of wet paper towels before I manage to remember it when still damp.
