Suggestions as far a depression medications? I feel that Maoi's (type A like Parnate, Nardil) are superior to all else and hypertensive reaction is way way over rated by physician and therefore are seldom used especially by FP's and even untrained psychitrists that don't have a good background in psychpharmacology knowledge.
I had over 70 electroconvulsive therapy treatments at the age of 18-19 and although ECT is considered the "Gold Standard" by many experts, I would disagree at least for treatment/refractory depression...MAOI's should be Gold Standard. Newer MAOI's, reversables, don't work and are an attempt by drug companies to make money as physicians might be more likely to RX them as the hypertensive reaction is far less potential.
Other ways I've dealt with depression:
-Physical exercise (am a body builder and lactovegetarian as well because of inhuman slaughtering of animals)
-Total/Partial Sleep Deprivation (under utilized, but very powerful)
-Cold Water (Shower/Baths) Therapy (stimulate both endophins and norepinephrine and helps with hot flashes and also stimualted thyroid)
-I've tried over 50 plus psychotherapeutic in my life and just feel MAOI type A are it.
-Have tried every known supplement, nutruaceutical, and herb ever tried or studied for depression and have found them to be minimal or moderately effective for depression. There are to many to list.
-psychotherapy equals a waste of money unless the depression isn't biolgical in nature.
What type of depression have your dealt with?
