Unfortunately, most drug reps no very little about medicine except for the product they're promoting and are all about the push of the drug.
I was a drug rep for 10 years and have a medical background as a PA, but the doctors don't really care what you have to say even if you are an expert as they are to busy in their practice to stop and listen.
In my opinion, I believe most doctors, practitioners will use what they think is best for the patient by experience with a particular medicine over using a medicine pushed by drug reps. I clearly tried to educate the practitioner on the future/benefits of the meds I was promoting and at times gave my medical opinion that other meds may be a better choice than the one I was promoting in certain patients.
