Me, too :-)

> With that in mind I do not understand why it is that you as a "deputy" after interpreting the subject matter in a post in a way which led you to believe it would be more suited to have been posted on the political board took it upon yourself to redirect it there.

Because it's part of the duties I agreed to do for Dr. Bob when I volunteered to be a deputy. To attempt to administer PB the way he would if he were here all the time. As we do have so many boards, he likes to keep them organized and separated by topic as best he/we can. Based on past practice, threads about war and other actions by governments, are considered political in nature. They have shown in the past to sometimes be controversial and difficult subjects. Boards like Faith and Politics were actually opened primarily to meet community requests to keep those types of [sometimes] triggering and divisive topics off the Social board.

> My interpretation of the post and its accompanying link would have led me to think one might believe it might possibly be redirected to the Faith board,

I didn't see that the majority of the thread related to religious faith, or the worship of God or the supernatural.

I think I answered that above - Dr. Bob prefers we keep these things separate, otherwise, there wouldn't be much need/use/purpose for Politics, Faith, etc.

> I dont know if anyone cares that the thread has been moved. Im just trying to understand the process or policy that enabled the action to take place?

I'm glad you are interested enough in Babble to *want* to understand.

> I have seen a lot of discussion about not reading intent from the material in a post most especially by the administration.

I think those discussions usually revolve around civility determinations. Although redirecting is part of what deputies do to enforce the guidelines, i.e., posting on the appropriate board, I don't see it as the same as evaluating intent (or not) about civility. If someone suggests a post seems to be on the wrong board, I usually just try to read through the post(s)and ask myself, "what is this mainly about?"

> The sort of topic is most certainly a subjective interpretation of what sort of topic it was, was it not?

I suppose, although in this case, I thought it was fairly clear cut. Reasonable people can disagree?

> Even if the posters statement of intent posted further down the thread had not been read I do believe an examination of intent by the administration by simply questioning the poster might have led to a different action or none at all.

I don't think so, not based on what I understand of Dr. Bob's past practice regarding what topics belong on the Politics board.

Hope this helped some. It actually helps me, also, to think through these things - both before and after we act.
