Man is a creature who will get used to anything, and that is the best definition of him.

And (of course) they don't all persevere, hey?
They die, of this or that, kill themselves through acting unwisely, kill themselves outright.

I have no idea how people survive in this world.

What do you think of the idea that happiness comes from lowering your expectations (all other methods having failed)?
(I managed a laugh out of that.)
